The York Region Science and Technology Fair 2026 is coming to York Region at the Markham YorkU!!

If you are a York Region student, Grade 7-12, you are invited to enter your science research into YRSTF 2026.

York Region Science and Technology Fair At-a-Glance

Friday April 10, 2026

4:00pm: Safety Check and Check-in for Students – 2nd Floor

6:30 pm: Students gather on first floor for pizza, talk and movie (Mind Meets Machine: An AI Talk and Movie Night @ York U- Speaker: Dr. Elham Dolatabadi

6:45 pm: Screening of The Thinking Game to begin- 1st floor Atrium (Sponsored by Connected Minds)

8:30 pm: Movie concludes. Clean up and depart.

Saturday April 11, 2026

8:15-8:30am: Arrive and go to the 2nd  floor to check in and drop bags/coats at your project table

8:45am: Meet on 1st floor atrium for briefing before judging

9:00am-12:35pm: Judging projects, proceed to stand by projects on 2nd floor.

11:30am-1pm: Lunch is served in the 1st floor Atrium. Only proceed to lunch after 3 rounds of judging.

12:00pm:   DIVERT Mental Health presents “Winners Make the Best Losers” (Dr. Rebecca Pillai Riddell)

1:00-3:30pm: Science circuit on the 3rd floor

3:30-4:30pm: Public viewing of projects on the 2nd floor

5:00-6:30pm: Award Ceremony on 1st  floor Atrium

6:30pm: Pack up projects! Congratulations!

Here are some of the highlights of this year’s fair!

  • The fair will be held on April 10 & 11, 2026
  • Registration and Safety Check will take place on Friday, April 10
  • Student will create tri-fold display boards to display at the fair. In addition, all participants get free access to the Youth Science Canada Online STEM Project platform. Students will be asked to create an online summary page so that our virtual audience can see their project. 
  • Unsure where to start? Visit the Youth Science Canada Online Project Library to see some examples of past projects from all across Canada!
  • Judging will include in-person interviews on April 11. You will have 3 rounds of judging.
  • We've UPDATED THE STUDENT HANDBOOK with everything you need to know for this year!
  • Public Viewing of Projects will take place on April 11 at 4:00pm.
  • After judging on April 11, York University will host our Science Fair Celebration Day! Stay tuned for exciting activities for our scientists!
  • The Awards Ceremony will take place on April 11.
